Roof

During the purchase process we had a full structural survey carried out which identified some problems with the roof.  The house had a Collyweston slate roof which was installed in the early 1900's when the original glass dome began to leak.  By the time we moved in there was concern with regard to the state of the roof.  We discovered that it would work out substantially more cost effective to part exchange the Collyweston slate for a reclaimed peg tile roof rather than repair it, so this is what we did.  A number of the peg tiles used were made in Stamford.

Heritage Roofing Services (Steve, Josh, Chris, Mick.....) began this work on 11th January 2006, and we believe that they did a fantastic job.  You can see some of the details in the photos below.  They made sure that we were watertight at all times, something for which we were very gratefull when it began to rain one night!  Chris and Josh cleaned the attic, after all the slate had been removed, so well that it is cleaner now that when we moved in!
