This was the first room that we decided to tackle. On moving in it
had lime green walls and ceiling, and an emerald green carpet. It
also had some built in cupboards either side of the chimney breast, the
fireplace had been boarded over and a little built in dressing table put
there.
The order in which we carried out the work is as follows:
-
Remove cupboards and reveal the fireplace.
-
Purchase a reconditioned fireplace
-
Strip the walls - we discovered that the walls had been papered with newspaper
dating back to the 1970s!! Then reline and paint.
-
Paint the ceiling white
-
Install a data point, using CAT6 cable.
-
Installation of plaster coving by Robbins of Nottingham. December
2005
-
Installation of new hardwood sash windows, made to match the originals
by Tradell. This room and the South room are being done at
the same time.
